Did you know that realtors used to store and sort the local listings in a shoebox? The black and white photo of the house was on one side of the 4 x 6 card and all the important facts were listed on the other side. I remember sitting on the living room floor at 5 years old and organizing my Father’s listings. The seed for my future career had been planted.

Since 1979, I have been involved in some aspect of the real estate business in the Washington Metropolitan area.. I worked for the Southland Corporation and Friendly Restaurants as a Real Estate Representative negotiating locations for corporate expansion in the early 1980’s. For five years I worked at my Father’s company, Builders and Developers Realty. This is when I took the coursework and passed the state examination to become an Associate Broker in Virginia. We specialized in finding under improved or vacant ground for investors, builders and national chains for locations. Dad was also building at the time. I interfaced with engineers and architects; developed marketing materials and conducted market research for projects he was constructing. Fairfax Towne, Potomac Square, Roxbury of Mt. Vernon and Sherwood Crossing are some of the projects we developed in Fairfax County.

By the early 1990’s, listings were on computers and I made the switch to residential real estate. I enjoy listening to people to determine their needs. When working with buyers, I like what I call “the hunt”-searching for that one special home. With patience and persistence, I diligently work at my clients pace to successfully find and negotiate for their home. For additional assistance, I surround myself with third party contractors from lenders to roofers who have a proven track record. My job is to facilitate the experience with maximum ease.

Recently, I took the coursework and received my “Seniors Real Estate Specialist” designation. Today’s seniors are diverse. Many retire for more active lifestyles and need to downsize; many want to stay in their homes while a number want to move to be closer to family. Whatever the choice, I can discuss options and resources to assist during this transition.

Whether you are buying or selling, this can be an emotional time. I easily adapt to each individual situation and personality. Whether it is a marriage, a birth, a divorce or death, I treat everyone involved carefully and fairly. When helping people sell their home, I offer staging and fix up suggestions; develop a marketing plan; follow up with leads and negotiate to achieve “a meeting of the minds”. Each client’s needs and expectations are discussed up front in order to prepare all involved for the process.

Helping someone with their housing needs is an honor. I respect that.

I have also spent the past five years studying real estate investing, foreclosures, rehabs, short sales and other aspects of investing. I am a member of the local Commumity Networking Group and local Real Estate Investors Asociations which continually haves classes and seminars to keep me updated on the changes in the investor industry.
